PLAYER ADVERTISING FRAMEWORK

Online video advertising requires new specific behavior from video players. Not only does new functionality need to
be added to the video players, but in many cases, several players need to be dealt with, and ideally this should be
easily managed. The need to communicate with multitude players and the need to create different rules for these
players is one of the toughest challenges of our industry.

During HIRO’s extensive field research, it became clear that a video ad server should enable easy control over
different players from the advertising console, with no need to change parameters at the player itself, or write code.
HIRO designed the Player Advertising Framework to answer these challenges. To achieve this, HIRO decouples all
advertising logic from the player, and passes it to the ad server or to a dedicated break management console.

The Advertising Framework enables publishers, content owners and ad networks to control the ad breaks from a
dedicated console, across multiple publishers, without the need to change anything in the player. The console
enables the creation of rules for different lengths of videos, and each ad break can be defined either by its length, or
by the number of ad placements.
