POSITIVE DRM™Ad-supported videos require a new approach to DRM. HIRO's solution includes the award winning "positive DRM™", which protects the content owners’ revenues, with minimum limitations for the viewers. HIRO enables content owners to regain control over the distribution of their content. All video content - whether downloaded from a website, shared via a P2P network or distributed on a CD - contains personalized, up-to-date ads to ensure revenue generation from each and every viewing session. HIRO’s technology guarantees user attention and maximizes CPM by preventing skipping or fast-forward playback. All video content is fully protected against content hackers and any kind of video piracy. HIRO's "Positive DRM™" takes a different approach to conventional DRM: Instead of imposing limitations on the consumers, and preventing them from redistributing the content or moving it between devices, HIRO protects only the revenue generating part of the video – the ads. HIRO’s “Positive DRM™" makes sure that ads are always personalized, up-to-date and cannot be stripped away. By doing so, HIRO’s positive DRM™ takes advantage of the Internet’s viral distribution and increases potential revenues. HIRO's Positive DRM™ also ensures that hackers cannot build a hack or a player that automatically strips the ads out of the video, thereby enabling consumers to view the content without generating revenues to the content owners. THE POSITIVE DRM™ CONCEPTThe basic assumption behind HIRO’s Positive DRM™ is that hackers will know HIRO’s platform as well as the HIRO team does. This leads to the conclusion that any attempt to encrypt the platform, or the videos, is bound to fail. By definition, the hacker, like any other viewer, holds both the encrypted material and the key to open it. The idea is - that the only thing that a hacker will never be able to hack, is information that does not exist. HIRO protected video are composed of a large number of content piece, some of them are ads and some parts of the video. The client is aware of the right order of the parts, but not of the differences in content. The information that distinguishes between the ads and the pieces of the video simply does not exist on the client, and therefore is not accessible to hackers. A hacker who will try to remove the ads from the video will end up removing about 20% of the video content, making it un-viewable. Naturally, the content is also encrypted, to prevent misuse by 'regular' users, and cannot be viewed without the appropriate key. Adding conventional DRM, like Windows DRM, to protect the content can be used to wrap HIRO’s Positive DRM™. HIRO'S POSITIVE DRM™ SUPPORTS TWO ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT 'CONVENTIONAL DRM' FEATURES:Geo-Locking
